The existing turbines at the site were developed, built, and are owned and operated, by RES. The current 7.2 MW wind farm can provide enough clean green, renewable energy equivalent to the annual average consumption of over 3,700 homes in the Highland region. The additional turbines will provide the equivalent to the annual consumption of 3,000-5,000 homes*.
Abbey are putting together proposals to develop their former US Navy communications site at Forss, Caithness to promote the creation of an Energy and Data Park in an ambitious bid to consolidate the area's potential to be a national leader in the development of wind, wave and tidal renewable energy, and address the growing 21st century demand for secure data storage facilities.
