Rheidol has been generating renewable energy since July 1964. During 2004 Rheidol Power Station's control room was refurbished to accommodate its new role at the heart of e.on's renewable business, monitoring all of their wind farms 24 hours a day.
A series of aqueducts feed into three main reservoirs at Nant-Y-Moch, Dinas and Rheidol. At Dinas Power Station there is a turbine generating 13MW and at Rheidol Power Station two larger turbines generating 20.05MW. Full load generation is 49.225MW but there is capacity to run at 56MW. Once the water has potentially been used for generating 3 times over it continues it's course down the river and into the Irish sea.
