The proposed Garreg Lwyd Hill Wind Farm is situated between Felindre and Llanbadarn Fynydd in Radnorshire, Powys and is located in the Newtown South Strategic Search Area (SSA), for which is described by the Welsh Assembly in Technical Advice Note 8 (TAN8) - Renewable Energy. TAN8 has set out seven SSAs in Wales which were chosen for the good wind speeds and lack of statutory designations and are considered to be suitable for large scale wind farms, such as Garreg Lwyd Hill.
