Now see Goonhilly repowering (and renewables solar also-no space for link).
Each of the 14 turbines which have operated successfully at Goonhilly since 1993 has a capacity of 400 kW. This gives the current wind farm a total capacity of 5.6 MW.
These could be replaced by seven new turbines - taller and turning more slowly. Each would have a capacity of up to 3 Megawatts, giving a combined capacity of approximately 21 Megawatts. If that happens, Goonhillys annual output of emissions-free electricity can leap ahead from about 11,000 Megawatt hours (MWh) to over a new level of over 60,000 MWh.

Project Info
BlackRock-Backed Renewable Energy to Build U.K. Solar Farm
The project will be located next to the company’s GOONHILLY DOWNS wind farm in Cornwall and have 4.5 megawatts of capacity,

GOONHILLY DOWNS replaces wind turbines
It is estimated that there have been a total of 240 million revolutions per turbine and more than 3 billion revolutions for the whole wind farm since it became operational.

Repowering Gives New Life to Old Wind Sites
There's no direct FiT support for repowering in the UK, and projects have so far been limited to small farms like GOONHILLY DOWNS (5.6 MW to 12 MW), Carland Cross (6 MW to 20 MW) and the UK's first onshore site at Delabole (4 MW to 9.2 MW).

Goonhilly wind turbine construction begins
Cornwall Light and Power is replacing all 14 of its 25m (82ft) high wind turbines at its GOONHILLY DOWNS site, on the Lizard, with the six machines.
