 Comment

The Severn Barrage is a tidal scheme that particularly makes use of the Severn Bore, one of the highest tidal ranges in the world. The potential for energy generation is huge - though coming in peaks and troughs. There is significant objection on the grounds that it will take away many natural areas. This is perhaps a moot point as these areas will be lost anyway considering global climate change and sea level increases, the proposed barrage might well act as a sea defence as well as for power generation.
