(Barons Court) Constructed by RES Ltd. for PowerGen Ltd., Bessy Bell began generating power in June 1995 - making it one of the first commercial wind farms in Northern Ireland.
Bessy Bell wind farm is located on Bessy Bell mountain, part of the Baronscourt Estate. The development is situated at 320 m. above sea-level on a hillside adjacent to forestry land. It consists of ten 500kW turbines capable of an output of five megawatts, enough electricity to supply the needs of approximately 5-6,000 homes.

Airtricity presents £25,000 to local community projects
This year, Airtricity has made grant awards to a total 30 community based projects within 10km of their wind farms at Tappaghan near Lack in Co. Fermanagh, at Bin Mountain near Castlederg and at BESSY BELL near Mountjoy, Omagh, in Co. Tyrone.
